Xbox Console Companion app brings together your friends, games, and accomplishments across Xbox One and Windows 10 & 11 devices. The preinstalled "Xbox" app doesn't appear to include any of the Gamepass functionality and the gamepass one lacks things like console streaming and most social features. I have 2 apps, both called "Xbox" that seem to do entirely different things. This app is also only called "Xbox", but is, in fact, the Gamepass app that I have been using on my desktop.
so I go to Microsoft's website to download the gamepass app and install it. I wanted to install the Xbox Gamepass for PC app on my laptop as well. It is legit identical to the Companion App, just without the warning about being replaced. I'm setting up a "new" (not actually new, just doing a clean install) laptop and it already had pre-installed this Companion App replacement, once again, only called "Xbox". I know that MS is fazing out the Xbox Console Companion app on Windows 10 and replacing it with an app just called "Xbox", but that has led to some confusion for me.
